Diazepam is a benzodiazepine used to treat anxiety disorders, alcohol withdrawal symptoms, muscle spasms, and seizures. It acts as a sedative and muscle relaxant by increasing the effect of GABA in the brain. It is generally for short-term use due to risks of addiction and dependence.
