Flupentixol Dihydrochloride or Flupentixol Hydrochloride or Flupentixol HCl is a typical antipsychotic drug of the thioxanthene class used to treat schizophrenia and other psychoses. It acts as a potent dopamine D1 and D2 receptor antagonist.

TESTS
Appearance of solution: The solution is clear and not more intensely coloured than reference solution. Dissolve 2.0 g of the substance to be examined in water and dilute to 20 mL with the same solvent.
pH: 2.0 to 3.0. Dissolve 0.5 g in carbon dioxide-free water and dilute to 50 mL with the same solvent.
Related substances: To pass the test by Thin-layer chromatography.
Impurity F: To pass the test by Liquid chromatography.
Loss on drying: Maximum 2.0 per cent, determined on 1.000 g by drying in an oven at 105C.
Sulfated ash: Maximum 0.1 per cent, determined on 1.0 g in a platinum crucible.
